We’re thrilled and proud to welcome Conall Riley as our new Gold Geese Young Ambassador!
Conall embodies everything our new Young Ambassador programme is about: courage, honesty and a commitment to helping others.
About Conall
Conall is 18 years old and currently training as an engineer at Southend Airport. He enjoys mountain biking and he’s recently passed his driving test.
Conall was supported by Gold Geese after being diagnosed with bone cancer as a child. As part of treatment Conall underwent a leg amputation, which brought huge physical and emotional challenges.
After he completed treatment the impact of cancer continued and Conall developed PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), which again disrupted the active lifestyle he loved.
Gold Geese were able to fund counselling to support him through that period, and it’s been so inspiring to watch him rebuild his life with such strength.
What Conal will be doing as a Young Ambassador
We’re building a small Young Ambassador team who will help us inform, inspire and influence young people across Mid and South Essex. They’re also going to help us further improve our support for teenagers affected by cancer, who face specific challenges.
As a Young Ambassador, Conall aims to help us reach more people by:
- Inspiring young people across the community to support the charity and learn about childhood cancer
- Sharing his experience to help others feel seen, understood and less alone
- Participating in Gold Geese fundraising and awareness events and creating online content to reach more young people and families.
Later this year Conall will be competing in a boxing competition to raise money for Gold Geese and has already raised over half of his £800 target.
Please join us in giving a huge welcome to Conall!
His experience and resilience will resonate with so many young people who are navigating life during or after cancer, and we can’t wait to see him out and about representing Gold Geese and inspiring our community.
Here are some ideas if you’d like to get involved and raise awareness or fundraise for Gold Geese too.
