Our Eligibility Criteria

Our help is provided to children on treatment for cancer in Mid and South Essex. These areas are defined by the community nursing coverage at Southend, Basildon and Broomfield Hospitals.

We sometimes take referrals under Great Ormond Street Hospital, UCLH or the Marsden specialist Paediatric Oncology and Haematology care centres, but this is a decision made by trustees under unique circumstances and depending on our charity’s current availability.

The community nursing staff will be validating patients’ diagnosis and treatment status.

  • By ‘children’ we mean patients under 18 at the time of diagnosis.
  • ‘Oncology’ is defined as the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, tumours and blood cancers included.

To refer a new or unknown Oncology Child to us please use the contact form. Please do not provide the child’s name, address or school at this point, we will be in touch.

Please understand, we have to run checks on word-of-mouth referrals so it can take some time to obtain the correct information and contact families. We do our very best to make sure this process doesn’t take too long.
