Childhood cancer causes a huge upheaval for everyone in the family – emotionally, physically and often financially.
We provide tailored practical and emotional support to families of children and young people fighting cancer in South East Essex.
Everybody’s experience of cancer is different, so our care and support are tailored to each family, and includes help for siblings and parents.
Gold Geese support ranges from funding for mental health therapy, food shop vouchers, toys and gifts, weekend trips away and practical help with travel to and from hospitals.
All of our testimonials are kept anonymous to give our families the privacy they deserve.
In the hard slog fighting cancer we aim to offer a little light and joy to our Gold families.
Examples of treats include end of treatment parties, amazing experiences like being a firefighter for the day, theatre trip tickets, weekends away and toys to distract from uncomfortable treatments.
Every family has access to specialist counsellors to help them cope with the complex emotions, fear and worries that a cancer diagnosis brings.
We help families facing financial or logistical problems arising from cancer – from wheelchairs and hospital transfers to help with food bills.
We fly together with families whose kids are no longer with us. We help them honour and remember their child taken too soon so they know that they are not alone. We help cover the costs of funerals, memorial benches and trees, and bereaved parent get-togethers.
Every family is entitled to 1:1 mental health therapy with our specialist counsellors
