It’s Gold Geese’s birthday this month. We’ve come so far from being a seed of an idea, to helping over 150 local families affected by childhood cancer.
We’ve raised awareness of the signs and symptoms, expanded to meet demand from families at Broomfield Hospital, swabbed dozens of people to help them join the stem cell register, and generally made our patch of Essex much more yellow and gold!
How it started…

We started out as Hattie’s Heroes, set up because I wanted to pay forward the amazing community support my family received when our toddler was diagnosed with cancer.
Cancer can be so isolating, physically and mentally, and it makes a huge difference to know someone has your back.
I wanted every family to feel as held and as supported as ours.
How it’s going!

We’re still a small charity, but the difference we make is BIG.
And we’re learning and growing all the time, so we’re doing the best we possibly can for our Gold families, like setting up a new programme specifically for teens.
If you’d like to help us celebrate our birthday you could
- send us a birthday gift
- find out more about volunteering opportunities at our fun, FREE event at Bits on the Side in Leigh on Sea on 5th June
- donate a social post to help raise awareness of the signs and symptoms or of Gold Geese in general, like Ryan Gosling did! (Remember to tag us if you do!)
From all the Gold Geese team – thank you so much for your support!
