Gold Geese is very saddened to hear of the passing of Sir Michael Bonallack OBE. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time, and we join them in celebrating Sir Michael’s remarkable life.
If you would like to donate in memory of Sir Michael, please use his JustGiving page here.
Sir Michael was Britain’s most decorated amateur golfer, a legend in the sport and an inspirational local hero for us here in Essex as well as the golfing world.
Sir Michael played golf at Thorpe Hall Golf Club from a young age, was a five-time winner of the Amateur Championship and was held in such high regard throughout the world game that he was one of the few officials to be invited to join Augusta National.
Sir Michael’s wife Lady Angela Bonallack, who was also one of Great Britain and Ireland’s finest amateur golfers, passed away last year. Sir Michael is survived by their children, Glenna, Jane, Sara and Robert and their ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren who all play golf.
Sir Michael’s family have asked that donations be made to Gold Geese in his memory.
We send our deepest sympathies as well as our gratitude for this kindness to Sir Michael’s friends and family at this difficult time.
