Two friends from Southend are taking on the Three Peaks Challenge this summer to raise money for Gold Geese.
Rebecca Williams and Sarah Duggans will climb not one, not two, but three mountains in 24 hours – including overnight!
Gold Geese has supported two families they know, so they decided to take on the challenge to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mount Snowdon in one day.
Rebecca is assistant manager at the Exchange pub in Southchurch, and Sarah is a teacher at Hamstel School. They aim to raise £1200 for the charity.
“Anyone who knows me knows I like a challenge. This is going to be gruelling but it’s nothing compared to how hard it is for the families of children dealing with cancer.
“Although we’re very active and I’ve run the Marathon in the past this will be something else as it involves around 13 hours of climbing. At times it’s really steep and Scafell Pike will be in pitch black.
“We have a lot of stamina and we are strong in our minds. I have no doubt that we can do it.”

How you can support them
Rebecca hopes to boost their fundraising total by organising a quiz at the Exchange pub on 13th May, and a sponsored silence at work for a week from 14th May.
She’ll have cue cards and posters up at the pub to help her take customer orders, so if you’re looking for a drink with a side order of mime you know where to go!
